Do You Think Trading is Gambling?

If it's gambling, then it means you don't know what the heck you are doing. Stop right now!

    Marketsurfer's bold gold proclamation

Right now it's about security, nobody needs to hide in a basement LOL, gold is more secure than currenncies right now & since the whole financial world is losing trust why would you want to hold future contracts? Perhaps you know something we don't, ie the future.

    Marketsurfer's bold gold proclamation

So you would hedge via gold future contracts? What if they default?

    Marketsurfer's bold gold proclamation

I do wonder why this call remains open in Surfer's view, originally posted in April 08, so much has changed since that time, he suggested a low in stock market which we hit and went through and still might go throw, obviously projection on gold must have something to do with what was happening...

Do You Think Trading is Gambling?

You guys keep talking about whether in principle putting on a tarde is a gamble or not a gamble, though OP is asking whether TRADING is gambling. Just because trading offers risk to capital it doesn't automatically fire it up into a gambling category. There's a bunch of other ways of putting...

Do You Think Trading is Gambling?

There is no 1 answer to this, it's all relative to experiences, though in gambling environments it is almost impossible to get a profitable edge, in trading it is possible. Trading of course can be gambling if one just plays the game relying on intuition/instinct. Forget what dictionaries say...

    Bullish on OIL @ $51.30

Hi, thanks 4 link, I'll check it out. As far as historical events are concerned they tend to stop repeating at some point as u know, so I remain upside biased only because I see potential in charts.

Online casinos have already been banned in the US. I have no answers regarding Vegas, I think that will stay as it is. Trading from home may be linked to gambling from home. Like it or not, it will probably change pretty dramatically.

Getting back to my question posted few months ago whether retail trading might seize to exist in a near future, I recently read an article where there were similar suggestions posted based on amounts of bankruptcies being registered that have been caused by trading and gambling activities, a lot...

Yes, might as well profit from this whilst it's still possible. In the UK my friends started seriously talking about moving elsewhere, what a sad state of affairs. Jim Rogers keeps saying "UK's finished, etc."

Do you guys feel any sort of guilt when you short stock indexes nowadays? I know most of us are retail size, though we are adding fuel to fire or aren't we?

    Possible end of GBP

Thanks for the input. Of course I have no idea whether GBP will or won't 'survive' this, apart from this thread having a catchy title one can't dismiss that GBP is weakening against so many currencies, which is very worrysome. If low, then how low? If GBP goes 0.5/1 vs EUR, then to me it's as...
