    ....at the moment

I've been hearing this over and over again...for over 2 years now. Look at this pathetic article on the state of the US job market: http://www.foxbusiness.com/personal-finance/2012/10/30/should-dumb-down-my-resume-to-boost-job-chances/?link=mktw re: "it’s just part of the economic strain...

    But what about copper ?

Copper jumped up out-of-the-gate today. Once again, it failed to hold gains and went in the direction of the US equity market....straight down. Anyone getting the feeling that this guy is getting highly correlated to the S&P 500 index ?

    excel winros commands

No, he makes a good point. Many of the data vendors provide this type of information as a separate DDE topic. It's in the past but it's not historical quotes.

    HYPERINFLATION VS DEFLATION

Totally agree. The question is: what will the equities and commodities markets do as a result of this ? 1) hard down 2) slight down 3) agonizingly sideways Certainly at these levels there's little upside.

    But what about copper ?

Weak, weak rebound in Copper today on Chinese yuan currency strength and currency strength from Japan. US Housing report also very positive. This pig is having a hard time flying.

ActiveTick vs. IQFeed vs. IB (TOFTT)

Of course it is, but how many independent traders are willing to go up against the CO-LO guys from the serious HFT firms ? They've got such an advantage ! Plus, It's getting crowded too. So why not take a different approach with pairs trading or stat arbitrage or options arb ? 100 or 200 ms...

ActiveTick vs. IQFeed vs. IB (TOFTT)

Was this with the RealTimeBars or the streaming quote subscription ? The above is definitely not surprising given the fact the IB's is a sampled data feed. However, despite this shortcoming, I don't think this disqualifies the IB data as "not for serious traders". That only needs to be...

    Surf's Special Situation Journal

Of course. You must have a huge sample size of trades...anything under 1000 trades may be inadequate. So for automated swing trading, you need a huge amount of daily bars to make this happen.

You missed the point....I was referring to MECHANICAL stops....like the Chandlier stop, etc. Every position needs to be evaluated for volatility, key price points, price action, as well as your remaining open capital. Also, what type of stop to use is critical. For instance in some trades a...

And let's review some recent huge winners who used their intuition, guts, and FUNDAMENTAL analysis to take home some big money: 1) John Paulson (3.7 billion in personal gains) 2) Michael Farmer (?? Millions from metals trading- Surf, I know that one hurts, but he did come back !) TA works...

    Surf's Special Situation Journal

100% true. Almost every system I created and backtested exhibited this very characteristic. Except for high frequency trading, mechanical stops cause a much lower average win amount per trade. I came to the conclusion that systematic entries are OK, but that humans are much better at stop...

Ryan Jones Book The Trading Game

He likely pulled that from his system results.....not sure if that was real or hypothetical. Anyway, his system fell apart during one of the trading contests and he lost face and never was heard from again. P.S. I didn't think that was a great book either.

    But what about copper ?

Copper down again today. This has got to be a vote on weak demand from China and a stable supply outlook. It broke $3.50 today at the open. However, I see no strong support till $3.40. Shorts have got to be careful here....it's come down a long way in a short period of time.
