    RE: Trading the Volatility Cycle

SEBL is in the 20's, so it's definitely inattention :D. Good luck with the house. As for a response, sorry vulture, but I'm still stuck on Chapter 1 of Cottle's "Coulda Woulda Shoulda".

    Best intraday software for tapereading

To get figures to align, enclose them in [*code*] and [*/code*], without the asterisks. You still may have to play around a little, but at least it allows for tabular presentation. eg. 1 2 3 12.5 13.3 14.2

    Exponential Moving Average

It appears that the formula was chosen to equate the statistical properties (variances in this case) of the N-day exponential moving average (EMA) and the N-day simple moving average (SMA). If we assume that the prices are independently and identically distributed with variance V, then the...

    Prue Lewarne?

Are you sure she's actually teaching at Monash, and not simply a contributor on some pre-recorded video segments for the course? Actually, it's a "telecourse" and you're right - she is "simply a contributor on some pre-recorded video segments for the course." Her Aussie accent, that hair...

    Prue Lewarne?

While not strictly my alma mater, I did spend my first year of tertiary education at Monash. It would have been nice to look up and see this on a Monday morning at 8:00am : http://www.playboy.com/sex/feature/bearmarket/2.html

    java applets problem

Glad that babe714 has solved his problem. I have a dual boot configuration (Win2K/WinME) with my trading done on Win2K. I use WinME for recreational purposes and have a similar problem to babe714 - IE eventually freezes (for WinME only) and I have to restart the computer to get it going again...

1.2 cents per share-- Is this legit??

Just had a look at details of REDIXpress on REDI's site and it appears to be the long-awaited Watcher clone, designed for the high volume Nasdaq trader, that has been sorely missing from REDI's arsenal - definitely a step in the right direction.

    surprise move on midday......!!!???

Small plane crashed into Milan skyscraper. CNBC said nothing for about 3 minutes, then went into a long commercial break, and only mentioned it after that. To be fair, CNN and FOX also took their time.

    Exponential Moving Average

As the thread originator, you should be enjoying all this. Your charts don't surprise me as I've seen reference made to the fact that there are variations of the definition of EMA. In fact, look at the following excerpt taken from what seems like a highly respectable source (take a look at their...

    Exponential Moving Average

The beauty of this forum is that I can selectively steer clear of threads which don't interest me - the thread title being the main indicator. What did you expect to find in a thread entitled "Exponential Moving Average"? Be warned that once we have exhausted the simple, weighted and exponential...

In NexTrend, press Alt-Prt Scrn. Then go into Paint and press Ctrl-V. Then File, Save As... and choose bmp. I'll let others elaborate on jpg and gif, as I don't use anything more sophisticated than MS Paint. Baron, Neil, Magna and others talked somewhere about this, I think.

Yes, that's true, Robert. I work as a Chippendale (don't even ask), and I can vouch for the fact that your office traders are a well behaved bunch.

How much will be my maximal loss on a $2600 IB futures account

fuchsbox, I cannot add anything to the excellent advice above as I have no experience trading the NQ's. If, however, someone were to trade a fictitious instrument with the parameters listed below, a $2,600 account would, on average, turn into a total of about $17,000 by year's end. The account...
