    The Real Reason Traders Fail

The real reason traders fail? Because they have no edge. It's that simple. You have to beat commissions, bid/ask spread, and the cost of borrowing to just break even, let alone beat the S&P on a risk adjusted basis (good luck). If you are a futures trader, add up the commission, the spread, the...

    Risk reward sucks for options

I don't understand this thread. When the NDX was going up everyday, at 10am to 2pm you could buy verticals that paid off 8x to 20x for moves as small as 0.5% to 0.75% on the down side by EOD. There's plenty of opportunities for great risk reward ratios in options, thats one of the obvious great...

You think there is a similarity to 29'? --> Chart

the 29 chart grew in about 7 years and the current chart took 15 years. Lower rate of growth recently.

Finally figured out what futures brokers and currency brokers are doing

CME is first come first serve. If you put a limit at a value where there is zero bids, yours will appear and you are 1st in line. IF many others eventually jump on, you will be filled first and before them. I don't know anything about currency.

GME’s Roaring Kitty Accused of Pump-and-Dump lawsuit.

So ridiculous. When institutions, hedge funds, HFT, billionaires manipulate the market it's OK, but when you don't play by the same rules of cheating you get sued? All market manipulation is bad, but everyone should get slapped equally.

Do i correctly understand futures trading risk in a worst case scenario?

If you don't close out a position and your account has a debit you owe them money. There's no way to get around that due to an LLC. Why should there be a way? If you take a position and lose you need to pay accordingly.

    Volatility vs Risk

I am referring to risk free in the sense of zero risk of losing money. For example, putting money in a savings account or in treasuries will always grow. You can't lose money. From there if you have a risk of losing money at any point, you introduce risk, which should be fairly compensated. Why...

    Volatility vs Risk

You should be compensated for taking risk. The risk free rate has zero risk as a baseline. If you want to earn more than the risk free rate (e.g. SPY, QQQ) that earning potential should be directly correlated with risk. One way to measure risk over time is standard deviation (volatility). If you...

    Working at Lightspeed-Client Service Representative

I do think college is a useless necessity though. Enjoyed the time away on my own, but I had a library card, could have learned the same at a local library for $1.50 in late fees :).

    Working at Lightspeed-Client Service Representative

Good experience for someone starting their career i think. Plus, you get to work and learn from Bob, so a win win. I actually think someone could learn a lot in customer service, if they took it seriously.

    1.5K Challenge Real Money

Good luck!! Why S&P? It's so studied (by humans and bots), isn't it one of the hardest futures contracts to have an edge in?

Let's be real here , what if the markets were doing the complete opposite!

How does the market keep going up? What timeframe are you referring to? If you look back 3 years, IWM is down 10%, EEM is down 16%, SPY is up 35%, and AGG is down 8%. A typical portfolio has gained measly 5% over 3 years, 1.6% annualized which definitely hasn't beaten treasuries. You are taking...

    Working at Lightspeed-Client Service Representative

I'm pretty confused with how this isn't a fair and standard list of job expectations. I do not work in this industry, but it looks like if you have 3+ years of experience (this isn't an entry level job) and have Series 7 and Series 63 (which implies not entry level) that you could apply. The...

    Schwab Down

Hmm.. I haven't been able to use the ToS app all day and still can't. I have been able to use my desktops, but maybe because I was already logged in. I'm sure it will resolve itself soon enough.

Tech stocks and Treasury yields Spread: 22% annual return in past 15yrs

Interesting. I'd be curious how it does in a bear market. This is pretty much vertical up for QQQ in this time period, so I would personally backtest from mid-90s to 2010 and see what those results look like. I understand you'd need to find a proxy for TLT, but I still think it's better to do...

Tradestation: Anyone who works in insurance is a Professional

Agree. I have moved the money out. I was just frustrated as it didn't make sense for me, but as you say, in such situations just leaving is the clear decision.

Tradestation: Anyone who works in insurance is a Professional

I honestly don't remember filling it out initially, like 9 months ago. I'm sure I did (probably required), just don't remember it. It looked like they were doing a review and then they wrote me and said "A review of your account has identified you as a registered broker or qualified with a...

Tradestation: Anyone who works in insurance is a Professional

Yes, I have accounts at IBKR, Ameritrade, Ninjatrader. As you say, it is not good for my health :). I did pull the money. I was pretty frustrated all day about this. Not good for my health, is not good for life happiness, and not good for trading. Better to move on for sure. Appreciate your comment.

Tradestation: Anyone who works in insurance is a Professional

Thanks. Agree that would be the only one that could apply, but as you are say in the message, I'm not acting on behalf of an institution, I'm just employed there. So custodial staff at insurance company are professional traders now? Makes no sense. It was a gift. I should have pulled my money...
