What is the Mercedes Benz of trading software

I wouldn't say it's an outdated business plan to buy someone elses software but Tradestation is definitely a good deal if you don't need portfolio-level testing. For individual positions/charting, it's definitely the best deal in the business - particularly if you are an active trader. TS...

Ok - I give up - then why did you ask your question?

What is the Mercedes Benz of trading software

Ok - we need to separate a few concepts here: 1. Charting software. This software category charts stocks and indicators and can function in a real-time or end of day mode. The leaders in this category include: eSignal, Tradestation, Ensign and a bunch of others that I can't think of. Most...

    Anybody using IE 7...

    1. The stability is fine - no problems there. There is an issue with security that I'm concerned about with regard to scripting. For most people, I would suggest that they wait until this is resolved before upgrading, if only because it creates a security problem for anyone accessing banking...

    Anybody using IE 7...

Well, it's totally just by eye, but I would guess that sites load 20-25% faster in IE 7 than in Firefox (1.5). This may have as much to do with the sites I'm loading - that they are more optimized for IE than Firefox, but it just seems a lot faster. It also seems a great deal faster in doing...

    Anybody using IE 7...

I like IE 7.0 but the recent security issue is difficult to stomach. But I think the thing people aren't talking about, vs. Firefox, is the better memory performance and faster page rendering. But hey, that's just me - hopefully they get the application patched and then I'll feel better...

What is the Mercedes Benz of trading software

(Cross posted because it seemed relevant)... Incidentially, I've been playing around with TradeSignals over the past few days. Very interesting software. My issues with it are as follows: - A german company - you can't currently buy the software/service here in the US (I'm just using a...

I've been playing around with TradeSignals over the past few days. Very interesting software. My issues with it are as follows: - A german company - you can't currently buy the software/service here in the US (I'm just using a trial). The other downside is support is, well, challenging...

    RightEdge vs. QuantDeveloper

BTW, I've since learned that RE has a equity graph - it just was off by default.

    RightEdge vs. QuantDeveloper

I tend to agree at the moment. RightEdge doesn't have many of the things that QD has at the moment. However, I would keep a close eye on RE as they seem to be adding things very quickly. It's worth noting that the products are really geared towards two different goals - I think QD is really...

    RightEdge vs. QuantDeveloper

Not sure I agree on the QD guys - I've had good interactions and I'm definitely not an extremely experienced developer in this area. But I agree the RE guys are great. From what I've seen so far, the software is very good in terms of basic signals, but seems to be lacking a bit on the...

    RightEdge vs. QuantDeveloper

What have you been quoted for a cost for RightEdge? I've been playing around with a demo of QuantDeveloper and it's pretty damn good but just too expensive for me. How have you found RightEdge in terms of flexibility? I'm happy to exchange notes. Thanks, Damian

    IB Suggestions & Improvements

I realize it's been said many times before, but either get serious about charting or get it out of IB. I find the current charts just short of useless. I don't really understand why you're even bothering to build this - there must be some good stuff out there either open source or companies...

    Portfolio/trading analysis software

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. Murray, you seem to take a lot of flack in this forum! Most of the criticism seems leveled at the systems you have developed or marketed in the past. While this is interesting to me, I'm more interested in developing my own system. My only concern is that...

    Portfolio/trading analysis software

Hey all, I've got a rather complex strategy I've been working on for a bit, and I want to make sure that the trades actually produced work from a P/L point-of-view. At this point, essentially, I have a complex excel document with the rules. I want to validate the rules - any thoughts...
