More on the Sydney, Australia move

I'm from Brisbane, but have lived Stateside for over 20 years (go figure). Can't help you on all the legal/tax issues - clearly you should get an international tax expert for this - an offshore setup is most likely your best option. The biggest issue I have faced, when trading my U.S...

    Wheat - Oct 11, 2006

Yes, I was being conservative...I got in a while ago too, but there might be one or two traders still out there who are hesitant to jump in at lock-limit-up... [P.S. and just in case anyone is taking me seriously, past results are no guarantee of future profits]

    Wheat - Oct 11, 2006

http://www.ft.com/cms/s/045d7d8e-5844-11db-b70f-0000779e2340.html Might be a good time to mortgage the house, sell the kids into slavery and put everything into wheat futures. Then again, if it rains in the outback tonight, maybe keep the kids...

Warning to those who trade CME electronic products.

I'll post a situation that happened to me last night in the hope that it will give a heads up to others... The CME states that the Globex system doesn't support real market orders. In the case of the emNY Natural Gas contract for September at the open on Sunday night (8/28/06), if a stop...

    Wiring out funds from IB

Apparently if you set up more than one payee to wire money to on the same day IB automatically locks your account for sending out money and it is subject to review by compliane. What they don't tell you is that you have to then call them to have compliance actually look at it to approve your...

Anyone Trading BOT Ag Futures Electronically?

Corn is deep enough after only 3 days - the rest are still a bit thin for me. Give it a month or two.

    Tell me about North Carolina

Santa Barbara always gets on everyone's list of approved places to live - but few of us have Oprah's buying power I guess. Interesting reading this thread - virtually everywhere in the country involves some sort of weather compromise (at least). You would think that it should be possible for...

    Unleaded - pit vs emNY?

Clearly I am missing a part fo my brain here. The New York Harbor Unleaded pit contract is consistently trading at a different price than the mini and the new electronic full size. Compare HU for say July and RT and QU. What's going on? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

    emini Crude and Natural Gas

They've been available for awhile - no problem trading either QU and QH are a lot thinner but tradable with limit entries. Best of all, the full size just became available electronically last Sunday night - a bit thin though. I'm only trading half a dozen cars or so but higher volumes don't...

    Contract Rollover/Expiration Questions

Not really sure of your question - there is no one definitive way to roll. For purposes of backtesting, if you are using something like CSI data, you have to determine your own method for rolling amongst a number of choices. Many choose to use the crossover in Open Interest as the determinate...

Best Future Trader(s) in the world

One of the greatest, IMHO, is Buzzy Schwartz. He made a ton of money off his own dime. Most of the "greatest" made most of their money from fees.

    Unleaded - pit vs emNY?

Whatsup with the prices here today? Pit is trading at 2.047 while the emNY is at 2.216 - "makes no sense Scottie". July contract on both.

    Expert Money Trader

Some recent adds in trade journals show ex-TI employee Roger Felton as an "expert" at trading. However, nowhere does his add or web site offer any evidence that he is an "expert" at trading, which I would define, at least, as someone who can show evidence of trading profitably for their own...

    Money can't buy happiness

I kind of like what Denny Crane said about the matter the other night on the latest episode of Boston Legal: "As you get older in life, you realize what's really important - MONEY!"

If the 20 year commodity bear market ended a few years ago

What's interesting to me is that, despite the raging bull market, the performance of many of the top "commodity" hedge funds has been unimpressive at best. Take poor old John Henry for example. You would think these guys would have been raking it in the past 2 years. Whatsup with that?

    Trend Followers..

I've traded long term and short term systems, mechanical and discretionary. The theory of trading is realtively simple, as your comment points out. The practical reality is that it is nearly impossible to carry out (but not impossible). The general assumption that 95 to 99 percent of traders...

    T-Bills as futures margin

Excellent questions - I'd like to hear from any brokers here on this. From my experience, the T-Bill option is only made available when you have "excess" collateral in your margin account. In other words, it's discretionary by the broker based on your trading patterns and margin account size...

Unfortunately, I still find the ZI too thin to trade actively, but the ZG is doable.

    NYMEX CL Trade busts

On my T&S I do see trades scratched as you say, but I assume those are "non-trades" - meaning fat finger mistakes rather than actual trades that get "busted" by the exchange. But I guess I don't know - those NY thieves do crazy stuff. So I am curious to know the answer to your question also...
