What happens when you reveal your true identity?

On another post I read where someone said its better if you don't tell people you trade for a living. Like most newbies, I think trading is pretty cool, and would like one day to do it for a living. And naturally the idea of revealing this (if someone should ask) seems like a cool idea too...

The June 6 2002 promotional email from InnerWorth has a quote from Waxie. Believe it. Or not.

Let's flatten one of 'em and put an end to it already

WWII was essentially won with the aid of two secret weapons: the atomic bomb, and the Ultra code breaking machine (which was really the first programmable computer, only the public never got to hear about it at the time ). I believe that the US military never forgot this lesson about having...

    Reminiscences?

About three months ago I read Richard Smitten’s “Jesse Livermore - Worlds Greatest Stock Trader”. Billed as “The Real-Life Story of the Reminiscences of a Stock OperatorLegend.” That it is. It also has a summary of Livermore’s principles in the back. But its also got the...

Is it all smoke and Mirrors?

I keep hearing about the simplistic solution of "nuking them". People have forgotten that the nuclear powers gave up on above ground nuclear testing when it was discovered that radio-active contaminants were getting into the general environment in seriously bad doses. And that was with...

    MurreyMath

Ok, I'll grant that he and his son had falling out. The Columbia Journalism Review's inflation calculator (http://www.cjr.org/resources/inflater.asp) says that $150,000 dollars in 1950 is equal to about $1,119,402.99 dollars in 2002. So I'll also grant that he died a millionaire in 2002...

Dr. Alexander Elder in "Trading for a Living," page 23, states that he had interviewed W.D. Gann's son and was told by said son that his famous father did not support his family by trading but rather by writing and selling instructional courses. Dr Elder also states that Gann's estate, on his...

the start of the new BULL ???

The Intermarket analysis chapters in John Murphy's The Visual Investor is worth a re-reading. Murphy's says commodity prices are usually a good leading indicator of stock market turns, since commodities are the raw materials that feed into the economic cycle. Higher commodity prices mean lower...

some of the Market Wizards are taking hits.

May 13th Investor's Business Daily's Investor's Corner section quotes Peter Moon of innerworth.com as saying the some of the Market Wizards profiled by Jack Schwager in 1989 have taken big hits and are no longer trading. No names given. Moon says he noticed that the ones who got hit displayed...

Warren Buffet expects US to be nuked.

The (very small) article said he did not predict when. Gosh, I hope its just him starting to believe his own "Oracle of Omaha" BS. I pray it never happens, but can anyone speak to NYSE's diaster recovery plans? I know NASDAQ is a distributed systems, but how distributed is it?

Warren Buffet expects US to be nuked.

Today's Investors Business Daily quotes Warrent Buffet as saying a nuclear attack on US soil is 'a virtual certainty', and that he thinks Washingon D.C. or NYC will be the likely targets. It also says Buffet expects to keep running Berkshire 'for a while'.

    UFO impact on markets

Read science fiction novel "First Contract" (not 'Contact', 'Contract'). If a superior civilization landed, it would immediately prove, in one fell swoop, that all our technology is obsolete. The markets would then all fall in one fell swoop. Indeed, the idea of markets might become obsolete...

    going short

I am a newbie NYSE trader who has been nicked a few times going long recently. I've always cut my losses short so I have survived so far. I have never gone short. I can't find a book on how to do that carefully. Kathryn Staley's The Art of Short Selling was mostly anecdotal (and some of the...

    Toni Turner's 33 1/3 rule.

I forgot to mention that my 10% stop loss is transitional. I used that when I was doing CANSLIM/PITBULL trades (which did not work for me because I couldn't tell which New High would breakout without falling right back down). Now that I'm swinging, with technicals, I'm using lower stop loss...
