Healthcare bill will be repealed in the next Republican administration?

I don't think you fully appreciate just HOW people live and die in the kind of system the orcs of congress just imposed on us.

Healthcare bill will be repealed in the next Republican administration?

btw, the republicans can vote to defund a bunch of the bill and they can repeal pieces of it, if not the whole thing. At this point, it might be just a game of damage control. At the very least, we should boot out the Democrats. Not so much because they passed a bad healthcare bill but...

I made my last 438 k mortgage payment just now. My bank doesn't seem happy.

That's pretty dirty. Bet they would have been all over you if you underpaid by the same amount.

Why not offer an options market for homes?

it would be extremely hard to hedge such options. Thus, the contract would trade at an exceedingly high premium and probably not worth it for the buyer. The banks can hedge their exposure via interest rate derivatives, but it would be pretty hard to have options on real estate.

I made my last 438 k mortgage payment just now. My bank doesn't seem happy.

Did you send them a thank you note for taking a chance on you and lending you money? Why do you think you're owed a "congratulations"? It's a business arrangement. Banks like people to pay their mortgages on time, but they don't like them to prepay their mortgages because it results...

Nassim Taleb: Not enough evidence that Buffett isn't just lucky

I don't think Buffet is just an outstanding stock picker. Stock picking is all chance. Buffet is a great manager and he has the ear of the companies he invests in. That's where his talent really is. Taleb is really enjoying the spotlight, though. He comes up with a dumbass strategy of...

why do job postings insist on including including "salary" requirement w/resume?

Can't wait to see the cover of "GSE Magazine" and "GM Monthly"

why do job postings insist on including including "salary" requirement w/resume?

They ask you for salary requirements because of the first rule of negotiation - always get the other side to show you his hand first. Plus, it's a good way to weed out morons who are dumb enough to answer that question and who overvalue their skill set. I can't imagine a scenario where a...

How will GS make money now?

don't get your panties in a twist. This is a non-starter, first of all. If this new rule does see the light of day, the banks will make some legal structural changes and nothing will effectively change. What I want to know is when we're going to see some outrage over Fannie and Freddie and...

    Wealthy Option Traders

So, not "wealthy" but "comfortable"? Doesn't that depend on where you live? $150K in Louisiana is a lot of money. In NYC it's scarping by. In dollars - what do people consider "wealthy" and what annual income is considered "high" for traders on this board?

    tax question, help please ASAP.

The penalty is most decidedly NOT 1% per month. It's less than half that. Now, the state of CT (for example) charges 1% per month. But, not the Feds.

    tax question, help please ASAP.

I'm not a CPA. That said, the only penalty you will pay is an interest rate on the money you owe. The rate is somewhere around 4 or 5% the last time I checked. The interest is calculated from the time the money is owed and stops the day the IRS receives your check. I don't know what you...

    Wealthy Option Traders

I see these kinds of threads all the time but I find the question poorly defined. I'm curious. What do people here consider "wealthy" and what do they consider "a lot of money" in terms of annual trading profits?

    MarketMaker techniques

there are a lot of ways to manage risk. To answer your questions: buying as they: yes, that can and has happened and taken down firms. avoid: reducing size and increasing the spread, thus reducing exposure also hedging (if they can) they can't bail (stop making a two sided market)...

    what ever happened to buylosellhi

Well, more precisely, we are being held hostage by the political class. The bankers don't have the power to force you to pay for their bailouts. Only government has that power. And only government has the power to create such high barriers to entry (via regulation) that a handful of...
