Trend Follower John Henry Assets Drop 80% In Year!!!

I love this line... "Henry is a so-called trend follower, who gambles on significant market moves continuing" I guess he gambles and doesn't speculate! LOL The big TFers are performing poorly recently, DUNN, HENRY, CAMPBELL (to a lessor degree)... seems like the smaller ones...

John W Henry having a drawdown

it's been tough for these type of funds lately, also DUNN. The long-term trend following traders historically go through some pretty large drawdowns. Some people say the best times to invest in these guys is during their huge DDs.

    Summer Oil Fear strategy

There has been a lot of chatter lately about a big oil/gas price increase this summer because of many factors... hurricanes(climate change), middle east conflicts(Iran), refiner manipulation etc etc. I have absolutely zero predicting power but I was doing a lot of thinking about the issue...

    William O'Neil sell signal

for sure... the big money is made in run away bull markets... my goal is just to always be aware of risk because us smaller traders have the advantage of being nibble. Thanks for your comment guys.

    William O'Neil sell signal

I agree, just something to consider if your positions start getting stopped out... I think you have to let your positions play out. Also of note... sometimes these distributions only lead to very small rest periods, like 3-5% or less.

    What are some trading "edges"?

My Edge: I only trade when stocks are moving powerfully higher and all the rest of the time I stay in cash and smoke cigars.

Looking to leave equities trading, what new markets to trade?

It took me roughly 5 years to transition completely from scalping/day trading to longer term momo/trend trading. If it isn't for you then it's a great decision but just know it takes quite a long time.

warren buffet says, it's easier to make larger gains with smaller money

all about liquidity. Higher returns are definitely easier with small amounts... that's why us "small guys" have an edge, we can be a lot more nibble.

Have $25K.......Best way to begin learning to trade it

    1) spend a few months reading all the major trading books. 2) trying to decide what product(s) and what time frame you want to trade. 3) find the best trader from number 2 above and beg him/her to mentor you, even if it requires paying for the mentorship.
