Anybody have a career related to markets, but no necessarily trading?

I would like to further my education in Finance as I work in the industry, but I'm not all about the trading thing like people are suggesting I'm doing. I'm not. Trading is but a very small aspect. What I'm curious is the stats modeling, risk mgmt, asset/liability side, etc etc.

Anybody have a career related to markets, but no necessarily trading?

I was actually thinking of getting any old MBA, even from an ONLINE Program if I have to. The reason being is as some have mentioned. If this is so common place, and I don't have one, doesn't that hurt me? I rather get a MBA from a nobody's college than to say I don't have one. But to...

    Market Wizards 4 coming soon!

Yes, but you cannot fight the fact and shift in the PPF curve in economics. We are shifting out, replacing a lot of manual process. I guess what I'm trying to say is, the legendary OPEN PIT style and E-TRADING are evident of this. I presume that MKT WIZARD 1 and MKT WIZ 4 to be diff't. I...

    Market Wizards 4 coming soon!

LOL @ price is the truth. We are in a algorithmic society now. Whether you like it or not, this is what's happening. I am shocked that people consider manual transmissions to be quicker than an automatic. Human error = miss shifts, mis hits, mis cues. You won't get that w/ computer. I...

Anybody have a career related to markets, but no necessarily trading?

I'm trying to develop a career whether it involves trading or not. I guess, to be frank, I don't want something DIRECTLY related, but perhaps associated with it. Such as management of a portfolio, such as the operations/accounting of them as well. Trading in terms of pushing a button isn't...

Anybody have a career related to markets, but no necessarily trading?

I'm thinking about a MBA as well, but I realize that even w/ a MBA & CFA, I might not necessarily get in a position, nor excel at what I do. I realize in the corporate world, it takes certain skills at certain level. Ultimately, I have to ask myself is it worth it? To say that I don't...

Anybody have a career related to markets, but no necessarily trading?

I have only two programs near me. One is a general MBA which caters towards working professional (3 year program). Another is a FMA (financial engineering) one which is a 1 year intensive program (full time). I do not want to quit my job and take the risk, but I don't feel like the MBA is...

Anybody have a career related to markets, but no necessarily trading?

Anybody know if there are current CFA students here, or know of anyone that have passed this exam in the past 2 years? I have researched and notice that EXAM 1 is fairly easier of the 3 and can be studied from test prep booklets. EXAM 2 and 3 is where the difficult lies. If so, are there...

Anybody have a career related to markets, but no necessarily trading?

I'll never under-estimate a degree or certficiation, but rather I've come to realize that if you can pass the CFA in today's terms, you aren't some BS type of guy. I'm not saying a Master's degree is worthless either, but both require hard work. I'm kind of stuck in cross roads in terms of...

Fuss about 10 year? Not sure why I see it everywhere. And how did this 'handle' jargon come about in trading?

I have 200k in my IRA, would like to trade it

I don't know much about others but it makes sense to protect 'PRINCIPLE'. Mutual funds that garnish YTD gains on an annual basis should work well. If you want to trade, allocate a portion and see how you do. If you can beat out your current holdings, then continue. If not, it's a clear...

Anybody have a career related to markets, but no necessarily trading?

I work a full time job as a clerk at a local insitution and have always wanted to expand my career. I seek income and I want exposure to the capital markets and what not. I'm not fond of the whole trading thing too much, unless it is required as I know 'real' trading isn't necessarily about...

Broker Transition (Tax Question, TXF, Etc.)

Thanks. I guess I'm concerned about tax reporting in the event that this happens. More so, for active trading, position building and that type of stuff, which or what can I do to better help me during tax reporting season? I've used turbo tax for many years, and even for 2011's reporting...

Broker Transition (Tax Question, TXF, Etc.)

Hello, I am wanting to switch brokers because I've started to trade more actively. I've looked at IB, Light Speed, Speed Trader as some of the potential brokers. My biggest problem and question is the TAX ASPECT of it. With my current broker, I am able to just download the TXF and have...

Taxing / Broker Question w/ FX trading.

Hello, I've begun reading on babypips, but I noticed that the IRS has started to change its tax requirements for securities. My situation is this. I normally file my taxes through TURBOTAX and have always used the TXF file that's been provided to me by the broker. The clearing house is...
