    Calendar Spread Question

Oh, I could just short the underlying to deliver and then buy it back to cover. But doesn't that depend on how much margin I'm allowed to have? If I have only $5000 in my account, I may not be allowed to sell short the underlying, 100 shares of which would require equity in excess of $12900.

    Calendar Spread Question

This is a question that's been on my mind for some time. I would appreciate it if you guys could give me some pointers. SPY was last traded at 129 on Friday. If I were to do a calendar spread, say, long SPY JUN 129 CALL and short SPY JULY 129 CALL, what should I do if my short contract gets...

Here's my position. What do I do now?

I have been trading stock options on and off for the past three years. I also don't understand why you have these positions across seven strikes in the same month. You've got to know the risks, the potential profit and loss, etc. before establishing any position. And you need to get a...

    freetrade.com

I filled out an application online Sunday evening, and my account was opened immediately. I haven't funded it yet, but their email response is very quick, usually under 15 to 20 minutes. My experience with them has been positive so far. To reduce costs to minimum, I would use IB for...

I couldn't agree with you more, darkhorse. stock.

ANTI-WAR/USA BASHERS: WHERE ARE YOU NOW, MFERS?!?!

KymarFye, Philosopher Thomas Nagel mentions that anyone taking on a morally really risky project such as starting a revolution to overthrow a repressive government should think twice about his actions. If the revolution failed and it resulted in even more repression and more loss of...

ANTI-WAR/USA BASHERS: WHERE ARE YOU NOW, MFERS?!?!

History is an unfinished business. Nobody knows for sure who's going to come out on top eventually. Besides, do you call the might side of history the right side of history? If that's how you call it, tough luck for the world--indeed.

ANTI-WAR/USA BASHERS: WHERE ARE YOU NOW, MFERS?!?!

The fact that this war has been going well is due to an element of luck. Don't sneer at anti-war opponents yet. Recall an incident in WWII. When Hitler was planning to send their Luftwaffe to bomb the city of Coventry, Churchill knew about it by intercepting and successfully cracking the...

ANTI-WAR/USA BASHERS: WHERE ARE YOU NOW, MFERS?!?!

Alfonso: Of some of them, yes indeed they are. ============================================= Alfonso, I know we are in the same anti-war camp as far as this particular war is concerned. But I think your statement is too much to swallow. Give us an example at least. Even China is fast...

ANTI-WAR/USA BASHERS: WHERE ARE YOU NOW, MFERS?!?!

I invite you to read my post a few pages back, if you haven't done so. Too much China bashing here in the U. S. The truth of the matter is that China is undergoing a peaceful transformation to a modern capitalist state. It takes time to change. You are talking about 1.2+ billion people.

ANTI-WAR/USA BASHERS: WHERE ARE YOU NOW, MFERS?!?!

Like Alfonso, I find this type of personal bashing to be unworthy of response. But since I teach philosophy, I don't want to exchange emotional insults and am committed to using arguments instead to make my case. Bush waged this war in the name of basically two things: (1) eliminating a...

ANTI-WAR/USA BASHERS: WHERE ARE YOU NOW, MFERS?!?!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote from Madison: China is at least as evil a regime as Iraq was. they put people in dungeons for practicing the wrong religion. they execute children without a trial. they've occupied and murdered thousands...

ANTI-WAR/USA BASHERS: WHERE ARE YOU NOW, MFERS?!?!

The US has again blown up a fly with a shotgun. Iraq spent 14 billion per year in defense, the US is spending 400 billion... The end or outcome still doesn't make the war legitimate. In any case, I remain supportive of the troops and am relieved to know that not more innocent lives...
