What I find great about basing a strategy around the opening range is that it keeps me from over trading. It also helps me define where my exit is when I'm wrong as well as when to take profits. It's actually a very simple concept and it's the simplicity that draws me to building a strategy...
Not necessarily. You could use whatever opening range you feel comfortable using according to your strategy. ACD is just a methodology and you adjust it to your own strategy. I trade in the mornings only from 9:30-12:00pm ET and I'm in the process of building a trading strategy based on those...

Thanks for the response. I'm assuming you're calculating the average daily range or ATR? I'm actually considering employing such a tactic in my trading arsenal.
I want to stick with the ES because of the scalability, among other things. I feel if I can profit with 1 contract, I can use a similar strategy to profit with 100 contracts.
