The Idiot's Guide to Premium and Fair Value

It's true that when there is a huge premium or discount to premium in the Globex futures you will get a lot of pre-opening indications. But it is not really an element of this strategy. What matters is when an individual issue's indication moves a lot. Usually happens on a stock that had news...

    Exactly how stupid is Bush??

Holy crap....msfe did a cut and paste!!!!! Hey, msfe, do you ever express an original thought? This article from Reuters is one guy's slant. They don't call these "stories" for nothing. Shiites and Sunnis as "brothers".....this is REAL typical! What did Iraq and Iran fight over for so...

The Idiot's Guide to Premium and Fair Value

Yeah, sorry I did not make the poll a little more comprehensive. I saw the default (4 choices) and winged it. Next time I will consult an expert like CandleTrader if I ever do a poll again. Certainly a poll was not on my mind at all when I wrote the post. As I said, it was an afterthought...

The Idiot's Guide to Premium and Fair Value

OK, as I said in the original post, there are probably many here (like yourself perhaps) that have a better grasp than I do on this issue. I could be completely wrong about "time value" being included in the calculation of "fair value". I guess I just assumed (not unlikely wrongly) that there...

The Idiot's Guide to Premium and Fair Value

Probably easier to use an intenet site. I believe CNBC.com gives this info each morning. As do many many other sites like briefing.com, etc. Try this...just found it at the cnbc site:http://www.programtrading.com/buysell.htm :)rs7

The Idiot's Guide to Premium and Fair Value

I think all services do this. If you are getting real time quotes on the cash and the futures, then you are getting real time "premium" by just using arithmetic (if you cannot enter a formula)...but I believe you can set up a formula in most if not all services. Even if you cannot use a...

The Idiot's Guide to Premium and Fair Value

I have never seen this, and I don't know how it would work. Not all S&P stocks have a pre open indication. Only a minority do. I suppose they could consider those that do not have an indication to open flat (some up, some down, and it should even out). But the issues that are indicated quite...

The Idiot's Guide to Premium and Fair Value

No, those quotes, like on Instinet and Island?? If that is what you are talking about, they are "third market" bids and offers, and are a completely different thing than pre market indications put up on the NYSE by the specialists. There is really no correlation between level II third market...

    Why We Should Hate Europe

Dear Abby: I am a crack dealer in New Jersey who has recently been diagnosed as a carrier of the HIV virus. My parents live in a suburb of Philadelphia and one of my sisters, who lives in Bensenville, is married to a transvestite. My father and mother have recently been arrested for...

The Idiot's Guide to Premium and Fair Value

I thought all feeds showed indications on NYSE stocks. If yours does not, call your provider and ask. You may not have it configured right. If you are set up to get consolodated quotes, rather than NYSE quotes, I guess you would not see pre-open indications. Peace, :)Rs7

The Idiot's Guide to Premium and Fair Value

I think I should have mentioned that there are exceptional exceptions to what I said about sell programs. I said that in a sell program, there is a "debit". However, it is not that unusual for an extreme condition to exist, as in the hypothetical one I talked about (fair value being $2)...

The Idiot's Guide to Premium and Fair Value

Brother Bung, I think you might be better off asking DB himself. As far as I can figure, what you are looking for isn't really a "fair value" but more an "anticipated" opening price. I am not really sure though. But if this is the case, I guess you would look at early indications. So if the...

The Idiot's Guide to Premium and Fair Value

Yup. Thanks for being more concise than I tend to be :) (Grad school journalism really screwed me up....made me believe I could write) PayPal, Green Stamps, Confederate money, good and bad checks, Visa, MasterCard, IOUs, and empty promises are all acceptable. (except for Don Bright, who...
