IB's listed maximums are for a single order...so yes you can enter large positions. If you are trading such size then you can easily afford a good front-end like Buttontrader...which allows you to enter how ever big of size you want and it will automatically break the order down into smaller...

You are probably just noticing the roll-over/end of day fix. Can't trade FX from 5:00 to 5:30 est on IB. The price jumps around and the spread is wide during this time.

I have experienced this frustration, but came to realize the chart is only updated every 5 seconds with Oanda. So you will get the price that is at the server when you click, which isn't always the same as what the chart is showing...especially in fast markets. If this is a big concern for you...

I disagree with this comment above. Currencies are more volatile and unpredicatable in thin markets. High liquidity lowers risk (since you can readily exit a position without worrying about the price moving too far on you) and it means there are more market participants which generally prevent...

It's $2.50 a pop to close out a position with IDEAL, so I just let my gain/loss stay in the foreign currency until the amount becomes large enough to validate the $2.50 fee, otherwise I would be spending an extra $10 a day.

I just opened my account with them 2 weeks ago. Only 4 pages to sign. In the application process if you click on "mail or email the forms to you", they don't arrive! Pretty much have to call IB and have the forms sent directly to your email. That's what I had to do. Keep fit and have fun!
