Max. Order Size on IDEAL Pro?

IB's listed maximums are for a single order...so yes you can enter large positions. If you are trading such size then you can easily afford a good front-end like Buttontrader...which allows you to enter how ever big of size you want and it will automatically break the order down into smaller...

    I second this motion!

IDEALPRO settlement into base currency of account.

Yes, but No! You can reduce market values to zero (or close to), but your FX Portfolio will always show an open position. Just ignore this part and look at the Cash column in the Market Values section to determine your actual positions. ...EX: If I buy 1,000,000 AUD/USD, the Cash Market...

    IB IDEAL ..... wide spread

You are probably just noticing the roll-over/end of day fix. Can't trade FX from 5:00 to 5:30 est on IB. The price jumps around and the spread is wide during this time.

Never Trade With Oanda If You Want To Trade Seriously

I have experienced this frustration, but came to realize the chart is only updated every 5 seconds with Oanda. So you will get the price that is at the server when you click, which isn't always the same as what the chart is showing...especially in fast markets. If this is a big concern for you...

    Large Lots

    You must be refering to mini lots......ie. 1,000 x $10,000 = $10,000,000....Right??

Are there drawbacks to working with such a liquid market?

I disagree with this comment above. Currencies are more volatile and unpredicatable in thin markets. High liquidity lowers risk (since you can readily exit a position without worrying about the price moving too far on you) and it means there are more market participants which generally prevent...

    Cramer on downtick rule

Triple X is spot on. This just highlights the media's main role of misdirection. Those who know the truth, or can read through the BS, are the ones that come out on top. Good luck!

Do you trade spot FX with IB?

It's $2.50 a pop to close out a position with IDEAL, so I just let my gain/loss stay in the foreign currency until the amount becomes large enough to validate the $2.50 fee, otherwise I would be spending an extra $10 a day.

    which pair for short-term trading?

AUD/USD has always been my favorite....until of as late - too thinly traded right now. Should pick up again in the new year....It provides some great moves and is more readable(imo) than EUR/JPY (which is probably the best for big intraday moves). If you can follow all of the drivers behind...

    Canadian accounts with Interactive Brokers

I just opened my account with them 2 weeks ago. Only 4 pages to sign. In the application process if you click on "mail or email the forms to you", they don't arrive! Pretty much have to call IB and have the forms sent directly to your email. That's what I had to do. Keep fit and have fun!
