A Bitcoin Transaction Takes Thousands of Times More Energy Than a Credit Card Swipe

That's why I'm in the minority, lol. I don't think bitcoin should be used in that way, but I think it's a nice option to have. A few weeks ago, I was in Las Vegas and stayed at the Lucky Dragon hotel, and it's a Chinese-owned hotel which has a bitcoin atm in the casino. I was thinking if I...

A Bitcoin Transaction Takes Thousands of Times More Energy Than a Credit Card Swipe

Yes, I cannot edit my post as it should be "There are some... not There are many on the first sentence". Bitcoin is like being your own swiss bank, and having the ability to have as many swiss accounts in that bank. When you "spend" (transfer) bitcoin to someone else, you do so by signing a...

A Bitcoin Transaction Takes Thousands of Times More Energy Than a Credit Card Swipe

There are many bitcoin-supporters who don't necessarily think bitcoin should be trying to achieve the same level of "spending-usage" as a CC or good ole' cash. It's nice to be able to spend on food, electronics, and other mundane stuff (lookup gyft.com), even if getting a discount most times...

    Bitcoin Surpasses Gold

I don't know what answer you want for something that's going to happen in the future. You want me to say value will go up? Ok, you got it. You want me to say value will go down? Yes, you got it. Bitcoin is deflationary. Many "coins" have been lost due to the private keys that were lost...

    Bitcoin Surpasses Gold

Honestly, it's too complicated... but the bitcoin protocol, the bitcoin software, and the bitcoin network will award the 12.5₿ to the miner that broadcasts the "solution". It happens approximately every 10 minutes. Then, additionally, there are transaction fees collected from all the people...

    Bitcoin Surpasses Gold

Bitcoin is divisible. I made a purchase recently for a $6 item and the cost was .005₿. Bitcoin is easy to spend using gyft.com but better discounts if Amazon purchase is to use purse.io Anyway, there is truth that bitcoin is worthless, literally pennies or less, but it has to do with...

    how to buy?

I own bitcoins, but I'm not oblivious to the fact that if the US bans it or makes it illegal (just like what they did with online poker); I can see bitcoins going to less than $100 or even single digit prices. I'm not saying it's gonna die for sure, but...

    how to buy?

i'm not newguy05, but.... i'm on his side. altoid asked where to buy btc, when he realized it was not easy, he started bashing it in other threads. the term sour grapes is so appropriate. if you don't like btc, you can bash it, criticize it, but don't be transparent that the reason is coz...

    $50K invested in 2009 = $10B in 2014

Sorry but not quite. bitcoin at that time did not have enough coins to go around to meet the liquidity of acquiring $50K worth (for pennies). Even now, I'm pretty sure it will be very difficult to acquire $7.5B worth of bitcoins (or sell that much).

    $50K invested in 2009 = $10B in 2014

The value of those 5000 Bitcoins are now worth $4M+ (fluctuates a bit everyday)...

I admit I don't understand bitcoin, but find it interesting

I know someone :) who has placed a few bets on bet coin sports dot com. The volatility (of the value) of BTC comes into consideration during the time of the bet. For example, if a friendly wager of .30 BTC when BTC was worth $110/BTC; is now no longer a "friendly" wager. A bet of .50 BTC...

    Bitcoin stories

My bitcoin story for this weekend :) I have bitcoins. I sold fractions of BTC to coinbase on 2 separate occasions few weeks ago. It's very easy. Money goes to my bank account. Just not happy with the length of time, about 7 calendar days. This weekend, wife and I agreed to sell a...

    Bitcoin thread anyone?

You're welcome. That's the good thing about localbitcoins/escrow, the bitcoins are locked so hard to get scammed. If you want to get the experience of owning bitcoins, just buy 1 or even half a coin. don't buy too much at once until you're comfortable with it. Good luck with that twitter...
