Robinhood users had accounts looted. Risk of same thing happening to IB?

Robinhood users had accounts looted. Risk of same thing happening to IB?

It's not wise to keep 10 millions in cash anyway: Inflation, 0.05% interest rate, banks going under, banks randomly freezing accounts... The best thing to do with 10 millions is buy real estate and borrow against it through HELOC.

Robinhood users had accounts looted. Risk of same thing happening to IB?

He doesn't have to, every transaction requires validation with the app. Also, in order to log into IB you have to input a username, not the email, so unless the hacker knows the trader username + email address + email password + holds the trader's cell phone in his hand there is very little...

Interactive Brokers to pay $38 million in penalties to U.S. regulators

It sounds to me like extortion, "hey IB congratulations! you grew up really fast from 2013 to 2018, do you want to continue growing? Well you need to pay us 38 million or we shut you down! You made the right decision IB, here are my banking details" That's the closest i could imitate an...

    About liquidation even without leverage

When you go to tws there is a value in maintenance margin even without using leverage but maybe the IB algorithm doesn't take it into account when all positions are fully paid for.

    About liquidation even without leverage

I hope you are correct :) in another thread someone said that there is liquidation if net liquidation value falls below maintenance margin, well it would happen with a 50% fall.

    About liquidation even without leverage

In a margin account Is it possible to have positions liquidated even without using margin? Let's say i have $10,000 and buy 100 IBM at $100, if IBM falls to $50 do i get liquidated even though iam not using leverage? I know it wouldn't happen in a cash account but how about a margin account?

IB - Portfolio Margin have higher requirement than Reg-T!!!

I want to ask you this, if you had more than $100,000 equity, would you apply for Pmargin or stay with Reg-T?

IB - Portfolio Margin have higher requirement than Reg-T!!!

Sure! because SPY can move down to $80 on a PMargin but not on Reg-t! Seriously, the type of the account doesn't affect the stock/option price, if you sell a strangle at 6.00 and it is trading now at 10.00, you are going to lose $400 per position closed no matter what account type you have.

IB - Portfolio Margin have higher requirement than Reg-T!!!

Do you mean that with 3 strangles you get 35K margin requirement but with 5 strangles it would have been only 15k or 16K? if thats the case one can add 2 more strangles, lets say on DELL and MSFT and have less cash tied up but that doesn't make sense considering most of these stocks are tech...
