This is generally a bad mindset. There is no "house money". You've increased the equity in your account by taking a hopefully predetermined risk. Unless you were planning on trailing your stop from the beginning, there's no reason to move your stop loss now. Without data to show otherwise...
What are your guys thoughts on the current situation with ETH’s gas fees? They’re currently around 173 Gwei which is over 10x what it was a year ago. If it continues to go higher, it’s going to make some of the Defi platforms unusable unless you are transferring large sums of money all at once...
Wow, defi is getting hammered tonight! BTC, ETH and LTC are holding up much better. Looks like a great opportunity to be picking up stuff like AAVE, COMP, UNI, and BAND on the cheap!
Okay, I can see why CORE is different in that aspect. I need to read up more on inflationary versus deflationary farming. It just seems like most of these projects would rather get their 5 minutes of fame than actually try to be sustainable which will be a problem in the long run.
Im not sure...
Thanks for your response and that detailed write up! I’m still trying to get a grasp on Defi as a whole, I haven’t been paying attention to crypto nearly as much as I should have for the last year due to the crazy world events.
My interest isn’t necessarily solely in YFI but it’s definitely...
Yeah, those are all good points. I haven’t been watching the copycats or any of the food metaphor yield tokens. It certainly shows a lack of understanding of typical programming procedure that people thought it would be safe to “invest” in an incomplete smart contract without a UI or sufficient...
People automatically discourage others from selling options, especially naked, because the streets of trading are lined with the bodies of traders who have blown out their account after being on the wrong side of a big move.
I thought you were smoking the funny stuff when you made that call the other day but you nailed it. I'm amazed that people are complaining about the market conditions right now. It's obviously awful for long-term investors but you could have closed your eyes and chosen any travel/hospitality...
PTON down close to 7% since we were talking about it the other day. Looks like the bottom might fall out here with the lockup expiry on Monday, it's already broken down to the lows of 2020.
Yeah, my immediate reaction when I read about it was how similar it was to FIT and more loosely GPRO. Huge hype for something that is going to have major competition with margins that will shrink, not grow. The short squeeze is the biggest concern, Bloomberg had an article out the day before...
You're not just trading delta when you are long a call option. You also have gamma, vega, and theta to contend with. If you are more interested in outright long exposure, you would probably be better off doing a spread trade. Otherwise you need to be right about the timing of the move and the...
Thanks for the ideas! I've been watching PLNT for awhile but what are your thoughts on PTON as an alternative? Not exactly along the same lines but the technicals look much worse and the fundamentals aren't much better - slowing top-line growth, bad margins on the hardware, ludicrous valuation...
A black swan is characterized by having an immense effect on the market and not knowing its a black swan till after the fact. This is a much more rare, illusive pattern: a nothingburger.
In my opinion, you're much better off mechanically losing money than randomly making money based on chance. It would become obvious very quickly that your strategy has no edge and you would move on to something different, hopefully having learned a lesson. It would be much more insidious to be a...
