    Forecasting Index Market Tops

I like this one best so far. To add I think tops start from uptrend channels, if price should continue in this uptrend channel then its move should be predictable over time. As price breaks this channel it usually goes range bound, momentum over time slows, price fails to break highs, and...

    Forecasting Index Market Tops

Yea 4hr will open up false signals, daily may be a little behind for proactively slowing down on buys. I don't think we should all organize everything we learn and share it in full detail but just some general concepts and thoughts to get everyone's brains moving never hurt.

    Forecasting Index Market Tops

My thought identifying overbought conditions to reversal was based on no longer using long scalp ideas in the short term (not to find short opp at the top). 4 hr more granular so maybe some extra data to read into the PA to support your forecast.

    Forecasting Index Market Tops

I don't mind a volume approach. Trade management skills have to be top notch for this to work. How do you create high accuracy on your decision to early exit / take loss? When do you know you're wrong? I think hedging has its benefits for longer term positions like you're doing but won't help...

    Forecasting Index Market Tops

Since it's not an easy thing to do, I thought it would be a good discussion to talk about different ways to forecast tops on a 4hr to day timeframe for index markets such as s&p500, nasdaq and dow. Being able to tell the difference between a smaller sell off from a high and a larger...

I wrote a bot and gave it 25k to trade

Makes sense, I'm in a similar boat. I want to be a little more proactive and objective when deciding to shut things off rather than be reactive. I'd prefer this analysis be automated and outperform my discretion but I haven't been able to put together the right logic. Any general thoughts would...

Any experienced traders looking to automate?

Yes I think a great point. That is certainly a large barrier to overcome for successful automation. Thanks for all your thoughts.

Any experienced traders looking to automate?

That's a good thought and the 'change up' concept I think would be important to creating value in various market conditions. As long as the data you fit all belonged to a similar market condition you could classify your strategies based on the larger market condition and search for which of your...

Any experienced traders looking to automate?

I have some strategies that I do run and I'm capable of creating more strategies but I consider time when factoring an optimal growth strategy. Giving up equity and putting more focus on areas of expertise I think can yield a better outcome compared to working entirely on my own. Good video...

Any experienced traders looking to automate?

I would not see their ideas run, the database is locally on the users computer. I would be helping code and implement the ideas so yes I think there will be a general understanding of what the user is doing. But in terms of copying, that's what I mean by protecting their Intellectual Property. A...

I wrote a bot and gave it 25k to trade

How often do you decide to turn the long strats off? What types of things are you looking for when you make that decision? Do you look at larger market factors or more based on your change in pnl, both?

Any experienced traders looking to automate?

I would be providing a program that a trader could input their ideas into and automate them. Their IP would be protected, and the program would run on their own computer.

How can I backtest a strategy?

If you wanted to go custom and learn to build your own route you could use python and a TA library. w3schools and stackoverflow can teach you a lot of the basics to get a backtester up and running. Haven't looked in a while but you may find a base to start with at github.
