Thanks for the replies.
I can install watchdog software to monitor system performance and alert me. However, if the entire system crashes/locks up it won't matter the watchdog will most likely fail as well...thus the request for third party notification.
I realize I could always opt for...
I should have been more specific...it doesn't have to be email
I'm simply looking for third party verification that a price was reached. If I'm outside, I can be notified and then verify the trade executed properly.
I would prefer third party as I have had platforms lock up in the past...
Does anyone know of a real time alert service for both futures and stocks that will notify you by email if your price is hit?
Here is one, but they are stocks only

Thanks.
maxpi (or anyone) what type of watchdog software would you recommend using? I too would prefer to have a built in safeguard limiting the number of trades made in a day.
Thanks.

You may want to try a free program from McAffe called "Stinger". Just do a quick search on google. It specializes in trojans and worms. I have used it successfully in the past when NAV has failed to find the problem.

Does it exist?
I spent a couple hours searching ET and the net trying to find a simulator that will work with Tradestations data feed. No luck.
I put a call into Tradestation but they are unable to make a recomendation (compliance issue)
Does anyone know of a simulator that would work...
Can anyone recommend a book(s) that details the concepts behind sound trading system development?
The recommendation so far has been: The Encyclopedia of Trading Systems by Katz & Mc Cormick.
Thank you for you help.
