How to protect my assets from inflation? I looked at the the fund offered by my bank and the load is 5%, management fees range from 1-1.75%. I looked at blackrock annual returns for their bonds and stocks funds on offer during the past 5 years and assumed an inflation rate of 3% per year...

Congress hasn't let "us" down. They're doing exactly what every congress does. They represent the people who elect them, all while skimming off a bit off the top, of course. The problem is the country is too large and too diverse. The larger a country the harder it is to govern properly...
