Last year the Olympiad was set to start with $100K BUT due to an IB mistake, the accounts were started with 1 Million. The contest was canceled after a day or so and re-started the next Monday with $100,000 in the accounts. The final results were based on the $100K equity start.

Yes sir, $10K or $15K savings in taxes is a big deal if you are only earning $100K. However, in NYC your bonus five years out of college can easily by $100K in addition to your salary. The "tax" savings now look measly, especially when one compounds for 20 years.
