How can I profit from selling puts in a stock I shorted?

When you sell puts against short stock, you have a covered put. This is synthetically the same as simply being short a naked call of the same strike as the put you sold. (Short call = short stock + short put)

Looking for a market-making tool out of the box

You may want to take a look at WEX Trading Platform - WEX (tradewex.com) Not necessarily a Market Making platform, but they do have a "spread trader" function that may meet your needs.

My new CPA tells me that owning a seat means I should be paying ordinary income rates

I will also suggest a need for a new accountant.

Traders that lie about their income

I knew many more traders that would understate their income that would overstate it. On the trading floor they guys who would continue to say they weren't making much, were the successful traders, and the ones who bragged about making money, generally didn't.

    2. Where is my mistake in the VIX of the CM E

I was about to type almost the same thing, word for word. Maybe it's just as simple as he doesn't have the data feed from the CFE (which would be different from the CME)

    Poor Fills on Firstrade

SPX options are a single listed product. All trades will be executed on the CBOE vs other exchanges.

    Poor Fills on Firstrade

My point was it not a broker issue. You would have the same fills in the SPX with another broker for the reasons I mentioned. If you assume midpoint is fair value, you shouldn't assume you should be filled there. This means there is no edge for the MM.

    Question about options execution method?

Your execution price isn't going to be much different in the SPX with whichever broker you use. SPX options area single listed on the CBOE. All your spread orders are likely just sent into the exchanges COB (complex order book). Your single orders will all be sent to the CBOE as well. Your...

    Suggestion for Option Courses (paid)

When I was trading, they seemed like they were ahead of the curve. Excellent traders. If the OP has access to any trading techniques, I would say it's worth learning. But as you say, it's unlikely they would be available to the general public. I was told that back in the day, they didn't...

    Broker for 100 LEAPS

If you are buying 100 leaps, the least of your concern should be whether you are paying .45 or the standard .65 in commissions. Thats a difference of only $20. Many other things you should consider with a broker other than saving $20 All brokers will automatically exercise (not assign as you...

The launch of actively quoted complex orders on Cboe Global Markets

Interesting, thanks for the post. It seems there will be specific symbols for different boxes/rolls etc and only a small number of spreads will be included in the program. Not clear to me if you will simply be able to see the quote of the spread and trade it just by using this symbol or if...
