I had checked in Acct Mgmt: Acct balance was $105,000 less than it should have been. Checking Funds, there was no activity. Yes, it may have been a simple coding error, but whatever happened, my balance was lower than it should have been.

Yes, it was/is odd. As I said above, this all occurred within about 2 hours, during the day. I'll check tomorrow, to see if there was anything on the daily statement. If someone wants to make it worth my while (min $1000) I could forward an mp3 file, with my recording of conversation today...

My account fluctuates 2-15k per day. I only posted this, so hopefully IB would realize that errors like this might have larger consequences than just one pissed customer. I rarely post to Elite -- generally too busy trading -- but I think you could search to find a few of my posts over past...

*** Re above questions/comments: I've been trading almost every day for 40 years; mostly futures. I rarely trade less than 100 sides per day; sometimes 1,000 plus. There was no statement to mis-read; my TE was $100k lower, from "Account," which I keep open, on one of my 12 LCD screens...

UPDATE Funds were returned to account, after about an hour, from when I first noticed it missing. Still no explanation, nor apology. I have not wired money in, nor out of account in months; trading today was light, with net P/L + about $2,300. Probably would have been slightly higher...

Spoke with customer service: It is a "known issue." No info as to when it will be fixed, nor why IB did not send e-mail, regarding the issue. Meanwhile, I missed trading opportunities, while trying to remedy above. I've had IB accounts for 10+ years, but this is very disturbing. I will go...

May repeat some of prior answers, but: 1. Selling puts/calls, places a limit on profit; 2. Liquidity, and esp bid/ask spreads, are relatively high in options, and over time, take a toll; 3. Often when mkts make huge moves, the option markets virtually shut down, or the bid/ask spreads...

Agree with other answers, that first you need to describe your specific goals, etc. as well as experience. But generally: 1. Don't start trading ES; start with 1 share, or 100 shares of SPY. ES contract is worth about $105,000; SPY, just 215, or 100 shares at $21,500. SPY & ES move...

The end of each month, ES futures settle at the 4 pm price, rather than 4:15. The reason for this is so that month-end statements, for money managers, etc., which often include stocks, ETFs, and futures, are aligned. If not, the extra 15 minutes trading could distort NAV, TE, etc. CNBC never...

My point was not for hedging, etc, but to point some of the fundamental reasons why ES has some advantages. If nothing else, more players, more money, etc., in ES, means at various times, there will be an advantage in more traders/money being on the wrong side -- assuming you are not on that...

Attached shot is more than 2 years old, intentionally out of focus, but should give you an idea of my set-up. I actually replaced the computer a few months ago, with the same brand Stratosphere, by DigitalTigers.com , which still supports 12 monitors, now sadly under Windows 10.
