    Is Peak Oil a Fallacy?

Why, as an oil company, should I build a new refinery (1) for a market with a revenue structure conditioned by marginal cost (i.e. facilities of all competitors partly of fully depreciated) (2) seeing that expanding existing refinieries gives me better returns than building a new one (known...

    Is Peak Oil a Fallacy?

Go and ask Him, how much is left. We humble humans have limited knowledge, and unless a Great Dictator tells us the truth, we possibly won't agree on the details. Honestly.

    Is Peak Oil a Fallacy?

Seeing conspiracy everywhere can make blind for the facts. Of course "Big Fish" is never altruistic, but seeks to make profits, as all corporations do. But beware: "Big Fish" has little impact on Peak Oil. - "Big Fish" does not control the industry, more than 75% of oil production is...

    Is Peak Oil a Fallacy?

Peak oil already is a fact. You can observe that the vast majority of oil producing countries has a declining production. Peak oil refers to the production rate, not the oil still available in the ground. Extraction of non-conventional reserves is limited by extraction cost and environmental...

    Mathematician trader

Just for fun: The St.Petersburg Paradox is an experiment that has an infinite expectancy. The problem is that the experiment is not real but requires a counterparty with infinite liquidity. Remember that LTCM had a valid concept of arbitrage but not enough money to play it out, as they used too...

    The charting software dilema

Thanks for this information. My indicators are coded in C#, so embedding into CQG should be feasible.

    The charting software dilema

So I conclude that TradeStation, eSignal, Multicharts, NinjaTrader and CQG do allow for code protection and vendor licensing. Now which ones are "the better ones"? Rarely travelling to Las Vegas, it is not exactly at walking distance from here. Last visit dates back to prior millenium.

    The charting software dilema

Maybe you could ask them. I have my trading systems coded in NinjaTrader as well, as this was the easiest solution.

    Is Peak Oil a Fallacy?

The discussion goes back to Thomas Gold, a renowned astronomer. Thomas Gold: The Deep Hot Biosphere, published 1998 Gold's theory of oil formation, is that hydrogen and carbon, under high temperatures and pressures found in the mantle during the formation of the Earth, form hydrocarbon...

    The charting software dilema

I thought this thread was on charting software, but it seemingly has quickly degenerated into a regular's table discussion of day-to-day economic policy. I would like to come back to the subject: I am currently using a number of proprietary indicators that I do not want to disclose. They...

    Is Peak Oil a Fallacy?

Could you please comment on how these processes works? Could you further describe where the carbon and the hydrogen needed to constitute the hydrocarbons comes from? The existence of methane on other planets does not tell us much. Carbon and hydrogen are basic elements that can be found...

    Is Peak Oil a Fallacy?

French company Total just published that they will be entering into a joint venture with Chesapeake to produce shale gas, and will be investing an additional USD 1.45 billion during the next six years. Do you think they are kidding? Some key figures about shale gas: - World wide reservers...

    Is Peak Oil a Fallacy?

Sorry for being frank. This is rubbish. Oil is not created deep in the earth and no scientist would believe this. Where should the carbonhydroxide come from? Oil is nothing else than organic deposits originally built up by large rivers. Let us come back to the idea that there are deep water...
