How to change mindset to let profits run?

Thanks for all the ideas and opinions presented (even though I'm not sure what saxon22 refers to as "cars"); I'll definitely have to consider some of them and see what works for me. I only trade US large caps and ETFs so my position size is, at most, 200 shares and I will only have one...

How to change mindset to let profits run?

Well I do have an exit target/strategy but now that I think about it, it's only on the upside, not the downside; having one for the downside would probably help address my problem about limiting my losses.

How to change mindset to let profits run?

Hi all, I'm seeking some advice/opinions on how to best change my mindset into letting my profits run and limiting my losses? I've been OK at eeking out small profits in this volatile market but have been consistently leaving much larger profits on the table. Any thoughts and...

Anyone here take CAIA? I am thinking

Considering enrolling for Sept exam as well but have been flip-flopping between CAIA and CMT. CAIA curriculum actually looks interesting while CMT would add an additional valuation tool and perspective. I currently hold CFA Charter and FRM designation.

    CFA - Is it Worthwhile?

The CFA charter doesn't really address issues in trading as it focuses on research and investment management. A suggestion might be to sit down and figure out for yourself whether you want to be a trader or a money/portfolio manager. As most of the previous posts have pointed out, there...

Where 2 buy Hardware 4 trading desk (southern Ont/Toronto area)..Matrox products, etc

I'd concur with the previous posts about CC and TD being bricks and mortar store options. Service isn't the best at CC but you're looking for deals right? NCIX is based out of Vancouver but good for cross-referencing pricing...

    Credit Risk Management

I do enjoy the mathematical aspect of credit risk but I've got mixed feelings. I worked for a discount brokerage out of university for 4.5 years and loved watching the markets (didn't trade much because I was paying back student loans) but hated dealing with retail investors. Now I'm dealing...

FRM(Financial Risk Manager) Exam and Designation

It was a LOT more difficult and quantitative than CFA but I passed.

    Does the CFA Open Doors?

I disagree; the FRM is focused on Risk Management and Measurement applications, not on trading or technical analysis for trading purposes. For trading specific courses/charters/designations, the CMT might be a better alternative.

    Credit Risk Management

It is a middle office position and even though one interacts significantly with F/O and B/O, by necessity, it's separate, distinct and independent of F/O. Credit Risk is the group that approves, limits or denies trading for F/O based on counterparty credit analysis. Don't know about career...
