You won't last long trading with that margin. There is plenty of margin on the futures side. Enough so that if you maxed out your margin on each trade, it would be certain trading suicide in the long run. The first nasty losing streak would blow the account.

Margin is a non issue with froex vs futures. You can trade 11 JPY contracts with a 10K account. That's way too big. 2 cts would be the max I'd trade at one time per 10K.
