I think RE long-term, just not for the next few years. Agriculture yes. Small Biz - no (depends on the biz, of course, but no way consider this a store of value). Patents too speculative and shelf-life issues.

Z zf trader Dec 12, 2007 #3 You may want to consider Canadian diamonds, since they are considered to be "blood free". Coffee can be stored for a long time, more than ten years I think, although I'm not a coffee expert. Palladium seem to go through a shortage every decade or two and is otherwise precious. These ideas are relatively unaffected by money supply and interest rates that effect the price of pretty much everything
