What was the worse thing you learned the hard way?

That if you have a way of trading that is doing very well, DON'T go into day trading, takes long to learn and I average even now ticks per transaction.
 
For me it was to stop trading equities. All the research in the world couldn't stop you from losing huge amounts of money when it was discovered that they lied about something significant.

What do you now trade?
 
I need to take $ off the table if I have outsize gains. Painful and expensive when I traded .com stocks back in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
