What do you think about ECNs and ATSs?

Hi there,

I am doing a research about the impact of Electronic Communication Networks (ECNs) or Alternative Trading Systems (ATSs) on traditional stock exchanges in the US and market participants such as dealers, brokers, traders, order entry firms and investors (institutional and retail). I need your opinion and help in collecting firsthand information.
