To me it looks like an era of absurdness...

Just look at the president, Ukraine, Bitcoin, stocks,...

Everything is so absurd at this point.

Like, how can any of this be real? The situation could hardly be worse if you tried.

Just like what happened back in 1999, which suddenly came to a screeching halt with the market crashing in March 2000, followed by the 9/11 terrorist attack. But here we are again 25 years later. It would have been foolish to think otherwise because human nature (aka greed and fear) never changes. Hence, we might crash this year or the next. But in the next 25 years, we'll be right back to where we are now asking the same silly ol' questions, as if nothing ever happened. Then we'll all fondly reminisce about what went down in 2024.

If the essay "Fates of Empires" is a guide, in 20 years we may be just about to the point where the barbarians have taken over. Rumor has it, people paid the goths for protection instead of taxes to rome, when that system came to an end. It was probably a better deal.
