Vendors that allow derivative trading in IRA

Hey ET, been awhile. Asking for a friend who lives in the USA - what vendors other than IBKR allow you to trade derivatives (vix futures especially) in an IRA.

The ability to trade algorithmically is also required.

I have my Roth IRA at Wedbush Futures, through Lightspeed. Most IRA custodians focus on hedge fund investments, but Midland also does futures and understands how to get the accounts open. We have worked with Midland many times.
 
These IRA custodian rent seekers need to go. They add zero value, adds complications & fees. The rules should be changed so they are not needed. But not likely to happen. Why give up a revenue stream from retail?
 
When you have a IRA, IRA ROTH or IRA SEP it requires a custodian. If you wish to make investments outside securities, and want to avoid a taxable event, you need them. Online brokers are typically custodians but most FCMs are not. I use mine to open a futures account so a CTA can manage it and have investments in 2 hedge funds. I would not be able to do that without them.

Bob, I realize that we need a custodian by law. What I am saying is that they provide ZERO useful service and it entirely consists of ticking boxed and collecting rent. They law can be changed to boot these "custodians" and nothing of value would be lost
