If AI becomes like Google, freely easily accessible, will it become like the calculator where kids can't even work out how much change to give.
I say it will make coders and others more productive by reducing repetitive work but also provide solutions they did not think of. Think about bugs, performance and security in programming. Usually concepts are developed, then coded, then checked for bugs and security and then the code gets rewritten or improved. What if you could spare the rewrite by just saying the AI to make your code performant, bug free and secure? You are cutting out half of the steps. A company having that tool will pump out new features way faster with the same man count.
Would that mean needing to share your code with AI in order to sort the problems out?
Typing in search terms into a chatgpt window does not qualify as "using ai". The majority of folks don't have and will not have sufficient skills to stay relevant when ai is fully utilized. Hence I don't see any argument that currently is made in favor of a majority from being safe of being taken over or being replaced by ai.

How is guaranteed basic income not going to create massive inflation? It's similar to minimum wage, you can raise it to $30/hour, but the UPS union drivers will expect a $250k/year pay package because their Happy Meal will be $30.
Which UPS workers are you even talking about. In a few years most is transported fully automated, including the last delivery point. Light packages all flown via drones. Larger packages automatically lifted off trucks/train carts, put on self driven trucks and walked to the door via humanoids. That is what is awaiting us. Fuck unions and fuck greedy workers who do half-assed jobs. Their days are counted. Adios unskilled fucks!!!
Yes. But if you consider that to be an issue - every pharamaceutical company has to share their secrets with auditors, every enterprise has to share their books with KPMG and co, why not share your code with another software if it is not allowed to use it for learning or able to share it? Trust is everything. Ofc we are traders, paranoid of sharing secrets but in the business world it's different, they HAVE TO share certain secrets.
