For the past 19 years I had been trading longer terms with safety in mind on a single strategy for most of my portfolio.
I was shocked when I got back into analyzing my system and reading that 92% of large funds can not beat the S&P buy and hold over the long term. So now, I am proud of my 19 year track record, where before thought more about safety with my system focusing on lower rate of return with very low draw down.
Now my goal has been to focus on trend trading.
I find it much easier to trade longer term. Much more success.
I don't want to get stopped out early. I end up testing over 20 years of data when possible. However, I have not been able to produce high enough returns when I programmed a stop loss, so I use a signal based stop.
I would rather trade a stop loss. Now, I have been thinking of trading a larger portfolio to possibly limit risk that way.
