Trading on chains - thoughts sought

I'm not sure whether a difference between trading and investing is being made here. Probably yes.

I'm asking from the point of view of someone who would go long/short an ETF of the UCITS kind because of the restrictions currently imposed on me by company policy.

I assume you work in a fund manager which does not allow you to invest in individual stocks without a proper compliance procedure in place - and you are worried if you can make money with the instruments you named.

With "investor" i ment outside investor - the organization that hands your company money in exchange for fees. I understood you ment that if such company strategy would be an issue for a potential institutional investor. A clear misunderstanding - I think I was misled by the word "professional" in the first paragraph :D :D

They have a compliance department and everything that comes with it. This is standard practice across Big Finance Corps apparently. They just shut the doors to their employees to trade to reduce risk of things like insider trading, reputation damages, regulator fines and what not.
