Traders Club Webcast 8/17/06: Don Bright/PairCo

Quote from MichaelNorris:

I have only been doing live webcast meetings and not archiving them, but in the web conferencing room there is an audio record button so I could record the meeting and figure out how to the upload audio recording to the club web site along with the slides that could be uploaded as well that people could click on to advance to the next slide and just have Don verbally say throughout the presentation what slide number he is, so people could be on the same slide he is talking about . I already know how to upload the slides to the club web site, I just need to find out how to upload the audio. I'll look into that today to see what is entailed in uploading audio to our site and if I am able to do this I'll let you know if there will be an archive.

You upload them the same way as any other file. If one is more comfortable using a browser to drag and drop files like in Windows Explorer on you local computer then just open a browser and when you point it the the directory you want to upload to then instead of typing http://.......... type ftp://........ with dots being the rest of the syntax. It will ask for user name and password and on the first try just check the remember checkbox. After that it will look like and Windows Explorer window.

Good luck and good trading.

My web hosting company has been working on the problem to fix the registration page problem since early this morning, so they should have it fixed later this afternoon, but you can still just send emails to me directly to register at michaelnorris@ij.net to be on the safe side. Also they showed me a way to view the emails on their system that were not delivered to me, so I am going through them now getting the email addresses of those who registered so I can send everyone the webcast log in instructions and password.

To create this archive of the webcast for people to listen to later, when I upload this sound file, would I not need some sort of HTML code to to create something for people to press like a button to play the audio though, otherwise once I have audio uploaded to site how would people access it? I feel like I am still missing something, so any further expounding you can do on this issue would be appreciated.

I see that there are programs you can buy that would allow you to add audio to a website, so I'll end up getting one of those. Anyone have one that they use now that feel is the best that they would recommend buying over another one.

On web I have found several choices and will be purchasing one of the many programs that are available to upload audio on to a web site to create archives. Anyone on the ET here, using a particular program that they like for uploading audio to a website that will create play buttons for each separate audio archive you put on the site?

I made the asumption that since your website is done in html code that the webmaster has experience with hyperlinking to files. What html editor was the site done with? Most hosting companies provide a basic editor. If all you have is MS Word you could edit say this page http://www.cornerstoneinvestorsnetwork.com/chat.htm

in the white space in the center of the page with a simple hyperlink to the sound file. In the hyperlink you can edit so the link doesn't show but has a clickable description field does. You can insert a pic to use a button and link it to the sound file. It's best to use a true web editor to make it cleaner. Don't know if this helps at all. This is a pretty basic explanation.

On our club web site there is a tab for webcasts that incorrectly lists PalTalk as the webcast platform we use, but we no longer use that platform. Instead we have a new platform we are using for the various traders club webcasts we do every month, which allows you to see the charts/slides & hear the speaker, and a text chat area as well to ask questions. So, don't go to PalTalk by mistake, instead go to the link in the email I will send you that will take you into this platform we use now. If you have not got the webcast log in instructions and password yet, you can email me at michaelnorris@ij.net or call me at 813-994-8874 and I will get that info out to you.
