The problem with providing any humanitarian assistance or funds to Iran is that the Revolutionary Guard nearly immediately diverts a majority of the money to funding terrorism.

Even this $6 Billion fund -- which was set up with the intent of avoiding this issue via oversight -- was nearly immediately overcome with this reoccurring issue whether it is direct diversion of the funds or freeing up other money to be used for terrorism.

The U.S. and Qatar blocked Iran’s access to $6 billion that was freed up in a prisoner deal. Iran has long been a major backer of Hamas.
The move comes amid harsh criticism, mainly from Republicans, that the Biden administration gave Iran access to a vast sum that freed up other funds for Tehran to provide support to Hamas before its attack on Israel over the weekend.

Source please? The second paragraph looks like a quote from somewhere as you don't usually use - - spacings but searching is not giving an obvious result?

I regularly use — spacings. These spacings are a good indicator that it is something I authored.

The New York Times article outlines exactly what I stated — including the Iranian funds being fungible. If you give the Iranians money from this $6 billion for “humanitarian purposes” then they will just move government money they are currently using for “humanitarian purposes” over to use for terrorism. This has been a story repeated over and over.

ET occupies a fraction of my time, I sleep four and a half hours a day, five the odd time. My wife is well adapted to seeing me at breakfast far more often than waking up with me next to her. I make it usually so not much to complain about.

Otherwise busy, I've been here too much lately as I had some scrap steel in a pile land on my legs and maybe that puts me in a mind to think what it is like to have a building fall on a body?

I'm struggling to see what you are trying to achieve?

You have obviously gone from quiet retiring at your work for years to actually retired but you seem to have little productive to do?
 
It's amusing that Iran thinks that the U.S. and Qatar can deny them the funds. It was also absurd that we effectively gave Iran 6 billion dollars for swapping five prisoners. This simply provides them with more incentive to hold more U.S. citizens as hostages.

They do a lot of profitable trade with non western nations. Much of their economy services and manufacturing.

I'm sure six billion dollars of their money back would be nice but.. Its not a very large carrot.
 
Giving Iran $6 Billion dollars and plane loads of cash in exchange for prisoners --- has only led to Iran seizing more hostages and demanding ransom.

In this particular case -- the U.S. has no ties or involvement with this individual being held hostage --- yet Iran is demanding the the U.s. pay 2.8 Billion dollars. Nothing more than a shakedown -- which won't work.
