Some years Argentina reports inflation @ 6% when it's actually 30%. Appears USA is following that mis-reporting example. At the peak USA was talking 9% inflation. My lunch all around town cost precisely twice what it cost when Biden took office. Compare car prices, lunch, real estate with 9% and you know the wool is being pulled over our eyes.Argentina has been operating for decades like that. They have never recovered from Juan Peron's economic policies and lurch from one economic crisis to the next. The UK is on the same path. The US is not far behind. Data driven policies are complete nonsense which exacerbate the booms then the busts. It is based upon lags and leads which are impossible to pre-determine.
