The classic BID stepping up/ Offer stepping down SCREENER?

Quote from neutrosphere:

Yes i was looking at first alert, and also their idealink software, but when I asked their tech they said they did not have a bid stepping up type filter...

On the contrary, these types of filters are very easy to create in First Alert. PM me if you'd like and I can help you create a few. They were the bread and butter for several traders for years, but like Mecro said, today they are relatively low reward plays because more professionals use size deceptively. - Rob

The trade-ideas look interesting, so do idealink/first alert. But trade-ideas just filters out BIG BID/BIG ASK, but not Active Bid Stepping up, ASk stepping down (the active trader who is pumping the stock or drilling it down...) Just a stagnant big bid/ask doesn't do much for me imho...

wait i trade-ideas does do that... i think. i will go ahead and try out trade-ideas... sounds nice, but does it lag at all since it is web based?

anyone use it and have any comments on trade-ideas?

By the time the software picks up the stepping bid/ask and by the time you see it, it will be too late. You should be able to select those yourself.

A simple bid/ask sorter is all you need. Sometimes I'll get into a stock that is advertising a nice bid and sit in it for 30 min. Then the buyers gets impatient and just goes market. 40 cents easy. Those are rare, but if you are selective you will get them.
