Test account in IB

Does interactive brokers have a test account for developers to test connections, and data requests? I’d like to try the api, don’t have an account yet. I just want to try something simple: connect, get 1 and 5 minute bars for a contract and a couple other things.

In the past there used to be an account for this kind of purposes, and for general use. But if I recall correctly, has IB discontinued this a few years back. You first need to get yourself a funded account and then you can open your paper trading account.
