Should we get rid of the Political Forum ?

I've seen this done in the Journals, Technical Analysis, Economics, Hook Up, Options, Commodity Futures, Strategy Building thread sections in which a poster makes a reference as a "get back at someone" for an argument in the Political thread.
  • Simply, there's an obvious spill over that's been going unnoticed for a few months
A few of these individuals are not citizens of the United States nor a resident of the United States but debating / arguing about United States Politics. Lets you know there's an agenda and makes you wonder whom is really behind it and why such is being tolerated here at trading forum.

Strangely, some of them have been members for many years and making hundreds of message posts. They know the rules of the forum and how to navigate around the rules.

I think just to wait it out until the U.S. elections has completed and then monitor to see if the heated debates continues and there's a continuation of spillover into the other threads...

To signal / identify whom to BAN and delete every one of their posts.

The latter is important because its just a Political thread...it doesn't hurt the forum to delete all their messages and ban these traders when they start to spill over their crap into the other threads in a covert way to "get back at someone".

Stalking shouldn’t be allowed. One strike from Baron or Magna and then the boot if it continues.

I used to think things would calm down after an election, ha. Every cycle the rhetoric seems to ratchet up exponentially. I’d say each party has learned pay-to-post is a cost effective way to manipulate social media.

Seriously, there were dozens of complaints...nothing happen. Yet, as soon as someone threaten to go to social media...the thread was deleted and the member banned. Someone that had been banned in prior and figure out a way to flood the forum with the child pornography images.

I can't remember why it took so long but I do remember some members using the "complaint" or "report" button on the very first child porn message post...nothing happen and it took a few days.
  • Possibility Baron was contacting law enforcement and they were tracking the poster.
Wouldn't surprise me if some of these racist threads are by the same person or group of individuals that did the Child Pornography threads.

Okay, so after reading this post and not believing there ever was a pedophile thread at ET, I then see wrbtrader saying he wouldn't be surprised that some of these "racist" threads at ET are by the same people or persons or group of individuals that posted the child porno threads.

At this point I have to say that he is making all of this up about any pedo ring or whatever here at ET. Or and this is what is most likely:

He is using this child porno thing to manipulate Baron. He is very manipulative in his posts. It's obvious what he is really doing with this post of his. He is trying to control the owner of this web site.

It's weird to see wrbtrader hanging out in the political section of ET. I don't ever remember seeing him post ever in that section until just lately. It's probably because of the election as someone mentioned.

And like someone else has also mentioned, it is easy to just put people on ignore. You don't see their posts and you don't see the threads they start. Click the ignore button people, click the ignore button.

You should send @Baron or @Magna a private message to confirm what I stated for fact that there WAS a Pedophile thread here at ET.

Also, you should confirm with them that the Pedophile thread lasted for several days after the very first complaint.

Better yet, just notify either one of them that I created a LIE about Elitetrader.com past history. Baron once said even after they delete a thread...they have some records of it on backup server or something like that.

Here's another fact, they said the member was BANNED and they were having problems BANNING the member again. I don't know why that was a problem but apparently the member figure out a way to create multiple aliases but they knew whom the member was.

About the same time or near the same time...another thread started by another member that wasn't about Pedo's but more tasteful called Cassie's Pictorium...soft porn thread.
If you look closely at the above thread, it has a start date of March 11th 2010. Therefore, if my memory is correct...the Pedo thread was in 2010 but I could be wrong about the year...no big deal. Yet, it did in fact exist for a short period although we don't know what happen to to the member that was obviously breaking the law.
  • Child Pornography is a crime and it can take down a forum that allows such on its social media platform or cause the forum owner a lot of legal headaches.
That short lived Pedo thread was in fact criminal. Baron stated such himself and everybody else. Surely you remember that thread...it was big news here at Elitetrader.com for several days ?

I wouldn't be surprise if Baron was involved in litigation to get the person arrested and convicted. By the way, never saw another thread like that again here at Elitetrader.com

I'm not making this up and if I did...Baron would immediately shut this thread down and give me a warning for making shit up about his forum don't you think.

As for everything is outside the above...its just any opinion (not factual) that the Pedophile is still around if he / she was never caught and still starting shit here at Elitetrader.com via other threads more tolerated such as hate threads.

Hear in Canada, hate groups / hate message posts are illegal. In fact, its illegal and people have been prosecuted although its a difficult process.
Twitter and Facebook have been actively working behind the scenes in identifying these groups or rogue individuals on their social media platform then deleting them. I wouldn't be surprised (my opinion) that they're turning their info over to law enforcement.
Twitter as you know has been cracking down on President's Trump tweets that were violating terms of use policies. I'm sure you've heard about it right ? Its been all over the TV news even in Québec, Canada and France.
Seriously, I'm not making this up. Many online social media platforms are fed up with this crap and now cracking down on it while others let these idiots hang around for awhile while gathering information about the members.

By the way, both Armed forces in the U.S. and Canada are also cracking down on any of their soldiers involved in hate groups, online postings of disinformation / misinformation about ethnicity groups and trying to incite violent behaviour.

It's criminal although tough to prosecute but right now...a lot of these individuals have just been given a dishonorable / general discharge caused by conduct not in line with military standards.

If you were in the military or have ever served...they'll track you down and let you leave a online paper trail a mile long just to embarrass you in court and then too your community wherever the hell you're located even if they know they know its a weak case against you.
The point with the above, even the military finds it "difficult" to get people like that. They instead put their face in the news after pinpointing them online via their message posts or off duty associations so that their community knows the disease.

I asked you before but you didn't give an answer...

Therefore, keep posting whatever you want to post or go complain to Baron / Magna or just stop replying to me or starting threads about me...works better than the ignore / block button. :sneaky:

Maybe its time for you to ignore / block me and go back to what you've been doing in the Political threads instead of stepping out into the other threads like the feedback section.

I give you my word...I won't bother you in the Political threads or anywhere else here nor be offended if you block me.

Almost everything said above is complete B.S.

The child porn incident that happened was not a "thread" at all. It was a malicious hacking attack where code that was injected into a post using a now-defunct technique that tried to redirect a person to a Russian web site with a bunch of child porn garbage on it. It was done in a way that tried to remove a user's ability to navigate his browser back to ET from the Russian site. It was an awful mess to deal with but it was fixed as soon as humanly possible and the user was in fact tracked down by me and then law enforcement took over from there.

You said B.S. but then you said it was not a thread but a malicious hacking attack as in...there was in fact "child pornography" here @ Elitetrader.com regardless to coming from Russia (something I did not know about until now) whereas it was indicated at the time it was happening that it was someone from within the United States and you or someone stated it was a banned member attacking the forum.

Simply, if it was a malicious hacking attack...that implies child porn was in fact posted at Elitetrader.com even it it was linked / hack attack.

That's the only point I'm making along with noticing something unusual in the Political threads by two other members (banned via an old alias or known via an old alias) because I and many others saw the pornography images regardless to the location of their origination or why Elitetrader.com was targeted although a moderator specifically stated its was done by a banned member that you guys were having problems with.

Also, wasn't those images first posted here in the "feedback thread" and in other threads too such as Chit Chat section because I do not remember seeing the child porn in other threads (e.g. technical analysis) ?

Was it in 2010 or some other year because I'm a little fuzzy on the dates of those message posts that you say was not a thread ?

Keep in mind, FortuneTeller stated child porn didn't happen here at ET (as in I made it up) whereas I stated it did happen. I know what I saw that was posted here at ET...it was Child Pornography and I don't care about if the hacker (at the time I was told it was a banned member) lived in Russia, China, New Zealand or United States. Actually, didn't know it came from Russia...never an issue with me and not sure why that matters.

Here's something else, you can correct me if I'm wrong...I do remember you saying (without any details) you were working to prevent the "banned member" from continuing to post further child porn images here.

Did you contact law enforcement because a moderator for fact stated such was done.

P.S. A moderator did say that the Political section does not have a moderator...why is that or is it just easier to wait for someone to complain about a message post to alert you to a problem ?

For the record, I never used the report (complaint) button about anyone in the Political section but others do complain when they see me posting in the Political section about my dislike of Trump for belittling the military and his poor Coronavirus response.

Your original post implied there was a child porn thread that was allowed to persist for days. There was never a thread with a topic about child porn that contained posts related to such. The post that the code was injected into was a trading-related post in a trading-related thread. That's why it was so hard to track down. It was like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Then after I removed it, the user would inject it again on a completely different post using a different username. That's why the problem disappeared and then came back hours later.

In regards to the Russia thing, I said the content was hosted on a Russian web site. I never said the user was Russian. The user was from the U.S.

Your statement about the thread being removed and the user was banned because someone threatened to go to social media is false. I did not sleep for days and was working around the clock to identify and solve the problem. The timing of the fix had absolutely nothing to do with another user threatening me.
 
Getting back to the original post in this thread. The answer is no. We're not getting rid of the Political forum. The reason why we created the Politics forum and the Religion forum is that members were talking about those topics on a daily basis in the trading forums no matter what. So we created the off-topic forums so those threads not directly related to trading would not be intertwined with the trading threads. This thread is now closed.
