Hey Beast,

A series 7 license basically allows individuals to SELL securities to retail customers. The test is about six hours and covers stocks, bonds, options, limited partnerships, and investment related products. You need to be sponsered by a member firm in order to take the test.

In a nutshell, if you want to work for a firm that sells investment products/services to retail customers then you will need a series 7 license.

Hope this helps!
