Because there is big money in exotic, lower volume (< 100K shares/day) securities.

I track about 400 of these... and > 90% of volume in these is NYSE.
When I route IB SMART... > 95% executions are NYSE.
Today 97.5% of my shares traded were NYSE... 1% ISLAND, 1% ARCA, 0.5% CAES.

Though with elements of Reg NMS phasing in...
I think I'm getting getting ** slightly ** more fills on ECNs...
But not enough to even bother tracking their bid-ask.

So often it's just me versus the Specialist...
And eliminating all "hybrid" = "new way to steal" systems...
Would be good for everyone not connected to the NYSE racket.

Yeah... believe it or not...
Dick Grasso not only had hair in the 60s...
But actually got laid exactly one time "through the power of love and music"...
Before moving on to something better than the real thing... money.
