Remote vs. Office

I just wondered if people think that for a total beginner is it possible to succeed from my own home or am I more likely to succeed in an office where I can bounce my ideas off other traders? I have the option of learning the industry from a mentor over the phone in my own home, or I can move to New York and work with a number of other traders in an office.

It all depends on the office situation.

If you'll be getting mentoring and education on a daily basis in the office, then that would probably be a better way to go.

However, many offices are just places for people to trade without much educational info being disseminated (experienced traders are too focused on their own training to bother with newbies and there's not much else you'd learn from other newbies... except what NOT to do.)

So, if the office isn't education oriented, I'd go with the mentor from home and get someone that's one-on-one focused on you.
