Once a "Daytrading" account, always a "Daytrading" account?

Say you have a little over 25K in your IB account. Over the last
week you have done about 20 trades. If you do not trade for 5
days can you swingtrade and let your account go under the 25K
without your account getting a margin call? Or is your account
pegged as a daytrading account? This is assuming that you do
not do more than 3 round trip trades in any 5 day period after
waiting for all of your daytrades to clear.

That is the same thing that I want know. Everyone keeps telling me that you have to maintain the 25,000 dollars. But I really don't know. Sorry

What I would also like to know is if you do lose your daytrader
status when going under the 25K, can you regain it as soon as
you have more than 25K again in your account as long as you
were only making 3 daytrades in any 5 day period during your
swingtrading "hiatus?

Or are you Locked in Forever as being a Daytrader at IB? Or
anywhere else for that matter?

I never got a margin call.
They just didn't allow me to make any more trades, till the
time period allowed, or my account went back to 25k

I remember going in and out of DT status
It seemed like it happened intra-day at times
Or it may have been an over night wait, at most

Don't know

Hope this helps some
