Let's say I am bidding 1000 shares on ISB. Some asshole gives me 3 shares. I get pissed sell those 3 shares to a MM. He gets pissed and sells them through REDI/ARCA, etc. etc. etc.


you know how you can multiply one transaction?????
 
self explanatory. just baby stats, though. I'll see if I can locate some long term numbers to put it in perspective. Really, it should be a ratio to money supply or something to be more meaningful.

This stuff is fascinating. Where are you getting the data?
Is it all from Market Lab? I don't recall seeing Margin Debt there.
And are you transcribing the Barron's data manually?
 
I find it fascinating, too. All the data are from Market Lab (except the Spoo quotes). I combine some of it in different ways that seem relevant. The Margin Debt stuff is right off the page, though. I enter the data manually -- since it's only a weekly event, it's manageable.


The only problem is that the Margin info is only published monthly, and the Member activity is delayed two weeks. I'm figuring that keeping that data might point out some long term trends, once enough of it has been gathered.

The main odd lot stuff that I post, though is current through the Thursday prior to the weekend on which I post it.

I actually think this is interesting as well. Do you know of any sites that post margin debt? I have been looking in Barrons, but can never seem to find it.
