Noah's flood and the ARK

Why would Noah take two fishes into the Ark to protect them from a flood. Fish live in water. (<---- That statement of fact is directed at religious zealots who also think the world is flat.)

Was the flood saltwater? Or was it freshwater? If the flood was saltwater it would kill all the freshwater fish. If the flood was freshwater then it would kill all the saltwater fish.

Just how would these fish walk up the plank to the ark? Where would Noah keep these fish? in barrels of water? And just how would be keep the cats from eating them on the ark?

So many questions.
