Need help with flat panel monitor and windows 98

I switched the monitor on my old windows 98 computer but the new flat panel monitor doesn't work!

Immediately after I start the computer I see the start page with windows 98 logo but then the screen goes black and I get the following message on the screen: "Out of scan range 45.8 KHZ/ 87 HZ"

I would appreciate if anyone can help me!

Sounds like you have your video refresh rate set too high (or too low) in windows. Hook your old monitor back up then restart your computer and change the video settings to a refresh rate within the settings stated in the error. Then you can switch back to the new monitor.

You can find them in the start/control panel/display. Probably under advanced.
