My old leisure machine monitor is shitting the bed.

FHD resolution for 32" is quite terrible. At minimum you want QHD (1440p).

That's hilarious, and horrible. A 32" monitor/TV having only 1920x1080 resolution.
Everything would be terribly grainy. Even that resolution on a 21" monitor is still very average, and dull.

My 13" notebook monitor has something like 2500x1600. The detail and vibrancy and clarity and saturation is quality all-around.

I've always been partial to Viewsonic and Asus monitors as a standalone component.

Here's a Viewsonic deal that might suit you...

Nowadays I use all-in-one rigs for leisure.

My Asus developed vertical lines after just 6 years of use. Never buying their monitors again. I got some Chinese brand Koorui one now (27", 1440p, 75Hz), it's decent even if colors need a lot of calibration, especially considering it costs about half of what LG and other charge for the same.
