My Best Guess

Well I am going to start making guesses. I'll keep a running tally and see what happens. No rules other than the 'market calls' will have to be made in advance - and you all can keep me honest. No fudging or close ones - right or wrong.

Here's the first in this (worthless?) exercise:
1) Dow 8400 before 9400.
July 11, 2003 --- 1 pm
Dow Currently @ 9120
9400-9120 = 280
9120-8400 = 720

Reward:Risk = 18:7 (2.57)

Correct: 0
Incorrect: 0

p.s.: Members Make the Call will be included in my threads until I decide not to include it.

2) SPY 95 before 102.
July 11, 2003 --- 2 pm

SPY Currently @ 100
102-100 = 2
100-95 = 5

Reward:Risk = 5:2 (2.5)

Correct: 0
Incorrect: 0

I'll reveal my ignorance on this one: who's R. Suttmeier?

This market is like one sex trying to figure out the other. Yahoo blows through targets but misses the rumors of whispers, and you tank it. Microsoft misses most all but the low end of its actual expectations and you trade it up afterhours. The only person who seems to have it figured out is Richard Suttmeier, the chief market strategist for Joseph Stevens & Co., and a strong proponent of the technical signals provided by ValuEngine, an Investrend Research partner, who boldly gave a “sell signal" for the NASDAQ before Thursday's opening on FinancialWire, and before his appearance on CNNfn. Suttmeier had said he based the prediction on an “Island Reversal," which he stated is the strongest type of sell signal, noting a close below the 5- day MMA at 1727 is a short-term sell signal with nearest support at 1678. He also reiterated his month-ago prediction, “Dow 8400 Before 9400." The NASDAQ's 49.95 point plunge left it only 20 points away at 1,698.02. The Dow is still closer to 9400 than 8400 but with a 43.77 drop to 9,050.82, it spent most of the day heading toward's Suttmeier's technical target. We wouldn't bet the farm against Suttmeier on either count at this point.

Thanks.

I'm generally looking for upward movement from hear to the election. But, I would think there would be some type of retracement before then - maybe even into the 8000's.
