Is this really the best thats out there?

Out of curiosity... is it fair to say you'd rather keep a charade going to maintain your present standard of living, instead of moving toward a more authentic future at the risk of an unknown personal outcome?

Bear in mind, I'm addressing your inmost thoughts with the underlined words. Philosophically there is no way you can speak for anyone else.

Its cute that you say you are addressing my innermost anything :)

HIstory shows that when systems break down without a viable replacement, it's often the most vulnerable who pay the highest price. So, while the current system may be flawed, it's more about minimizing harm for society as a whole than protecting my own standard of living.

I will be OK as can be under any change up to and including nuclear war because I own a swanky fallout shelter (inherited, I'm not mad). Time passes and things change, usually for the better. We are on the verge of creating AI God, genetics are to become a lifestyle choice which makes all the racists a bit dumb.

Post scarcity is afoot but stepping back into authoratarianism is going to delay it.

Wasn't trying to be cute... just wanted to understand the fundamentals.

This is by definition, IDK how it can be changed.

unfounded fears

Always take BOTH pills.
I don't think the thought experiment allows both pills

Lots to think about. I'm not a big TedTalk person but I did like watching this:

Both pills. Suggest you get into the habit of saying please to Alexa.

I'll look at the talk in a bit.
